Hello, fellow learners and enthusiasts! As I navigate through my Outreachy internship journey with the incredible Oppia community, it’s time for a mid-term check-in to reflect on my progress, achievements, and the road ahead.
Original Internship Project Timeline
When I embarked on this journey, my internship project timeline aimed to create effective and engaging online lessons on Science Lessons on the topic – Systems, within a span of three months.
Goals Met and Accomplishments in the First Half
In the first six weeks of my internship, I’m elated to share that I’ve made some significant progress. I’ve successfully developed an engaging lesson skill table, outlined a comprehensive skill tree, story outline, lesson script and received valuable feedback from my mentors and peers within the Oppia community.
Goals Taking Longer Than Expected
However, it’s crucial to acknowledge the challenges and obstacles encountered along the way. Two particular project goals that took longer than anticipated were the revision of the skill table and the creation of scripts for the science lessons. The revision of the skill table demanded meticulous attention to detail, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and seamless progression within the lesson plans. Similarly, crafting scripts for the science lessons required extensive research and refinement to strike the perfect balance between educational content and interactive engagement.
Lessons Learned and Adjustments for Future Projects
Reflecting on these challenges, I’ve realized the importance of setting realistic timelines and allocating sufficient resources for each project phase. If I were to start the project over, I would emphasize thorough planning and establish clearer communication channels with mentors to address potential roadblocks proactively.
Modified Goals for the Second Half of the Internship
As I embark on the second half of my internship journey, I’ve revised my goals to ensure a more streamlined and achievable approach. I plan to prioritize the completion of the revised skill table and focus on enhancing the interactivity and engagement levels within the science lesson scripts. Additionally, I aim to dedicate more time to soliciting feedback from the Oppia community and incorporating valuable insights into my project iterations.
Moving Forward with Optimism
